Copper coal skuttle
This copper coal skuttle dates to the arts and crafts era early 20th century, it has been well loved by the same family for generations and as a result, all 3 handles were missing. The one on the lid was a recent alteration and damaging the lid when used it is clear that previous homemade restorations had been carried out. Some were non reversible. Panels were added to the sides because of how thin they were and the original side handles would have been in brass and visibly riveted.
This restoration was carried out on set as part of Channel 4s Mend it for money
